PANDEMIC BABIES: A YEAR TO REMEMBER

FORGET

Lawrence, KS, USA, 2020.

Reflecting on a tumultous year from the perspective of those who lived it most vividly. College campuses have historically been spaces for transformative cultural revolution. 2020 proved no different. Pandemonium is a word most fitting to represent the year 2020 but putting this preview together I felt another phrase might better evoke the feelings swirling around during that time: Pandemic Babies. Colloquially, these are children born close to or during the global Covid-19 pandemic, who would have no memory of the so-called "normal life" we all fondly look back on. However, I think college students are the real pandemic babies, much like their parets and/or relatives whoh lived through the 2007 economic recession, these are the people whose lives changed significantly as a result, and the "normal life" you speak of will always be foreign to us.

This project is a virtual exhibition based on the anthology of the same name. Pass Me The Mic is a multi-faceted memorial to the trials and tribulations of hip-hop as a genre and community and it's impact on global media and entertainment.
